Book launch – Amy Lovat

Newcastle Writers Festival and Pan Macmillan invite you to celebrate the launch of Amy Lovat’s debut novel Mistakes and Other Lovers from 7pm on Friday, July 14, at Fort Scratchley Function Centre.

Mistakes and Other Lovers is an exhilarating depiction of young womanhood set on the cement and sand of Newcastle.

Amy has created a raw and relatable narrator in Giselle, whose quiet dignity shines through even her loudest indignities. And Giselle has been making a lot of mistakes lately. She’s meant to be engaged to her longtime boyfriend. She’s meant to have life figured out. Instead, she’s partying in Newcastle where she grew up, avoiding her family, and falling in love with a youth pastor – searching for any hope of redemption.

Amy will be in conversation with Clare Stephens, an executive editor at women’s media company Mamamia.
