BottomAfter leaving school, David Dyer pursued an eclectic career that included studying medicine, travelling the world in merchant ships, and working as a lawyer in Sydney and then London. Upon his return to Australia, he embraced his lifelong love of literature by becoming an English teacher and writer. In 2013, he was awarded a doctorate in creative arts, and in 2016 published The Midnight Watch, a novel about the ship that witnessed the Titanic’s distress rockets but did not go to the rescue. He then turned his attention to space, a fascination he’s had since childhood, and in 2019 met Buzz Aldrin and other astronauts at a gala celebration of the fiftieth-anniversary of the first landing on the Moon. His latest novel, This Kingdom of Dust, imagines what would have happened had that mission gone wrong and Buzz and Neil become stranded on the lunar surface.
David currently lives in Sydney, where he teaches, writes and makes cocktails.
