BottomDr Julie McIntyre is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Newcastle. Her books First Vintage: Wine in colonial New South Wales (2012) and Hunter Wine: A history (2018, with John Germov) each won food or wine industry prizes. They were both shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s History Awards. Hunter Wine also received a “Special Mention for History” from the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin. Julie has held several fellowships in Australia and overseas including the State Library of NSW Merewether Fellowship (2018) and an Australian-American Fulbright Scholar Award (2019). She is a Research Associate of the National Museum of Australia and working on a global history of Australia for Princeton University Press.
