BottomKatharine Pollock (PhD) is the author Her Fidelity (Penguin Random House, 2022), and Starry Eyed (Wakefield Press, 2025). She writes funny stories about ordinary people leading complicated lives. Her latest novel, Starry Eyed, is the hilarious story of a woman making bad choices thanks to her obsession with a cult film director. Her debut novel, Her Fidelity, is a coming-of-age set in an indie record shop. Both novels examine the intersections of fandom and feminism.
Katharine contributes regularly to The Guardian, and has had short stories and personal essays published by Folly Magazine, Hear Us Scream, Written Off, and more. She lives and works on unceded Eora land and is represented by Benython Oldfield at Zeitgeist Agency. When not writing, she is the program manager at Writing NSW. When not working, she can be found on the couch with her two guinea pigs and husband.
Newcastle Writers Festival would like to acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the festival takes place, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend this respect to all First Nations people attending our festival.
