Sarah Napthali

Some may know Sarah from her international best-selling series Buddhism for Mothers. More recently, Sarah has taken a leap into the unknown and launched a personal investigation into the so-called ‘psychedelic renaissance’ with a year-long experiment trying eight psychedelic substances. In My Year of Psychedelics, Sarah takes readers on a journey through the Netherlands, Portugal, and Costa Rica where she attends psychedelic retreats offering magic mushrooms, toad venom and the South American medicine ayahuasca. She also undergoes psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy at home in Australia trying more substances and chronicling the diverse effects.

Sarah had no idea what kind of book she would write when she started as nobody can predict the effects of psychedelic medicines. Her book is a no holds barred account of what happened to her and how her high-dose medicine journeys affected her life.

Sarah has done the research and draws on numerous studies so readers can learn about each substance, but My Year of Psychedelics is no dry read. With shades of Eat, Pray, Love, Sarah shows the interweaving of her psychedelic experiences with universal themes such as break-ups, loneliness, internet dating, losing friends, empty-nest syndrome and starting over, but also newfound self-awareness and spiritual possibilities.
