Sharlene Allsopp was born on Bundjalung Country into the Olive mob. Her debut novel, The Great Undoing, was completed with a Wheeler Centre’s Next Chapter fellowship.

Sharlene Allsopp

Sharlene Allsopp was born and raised on unceded Bundjalung Country into the Olive mob. She studied Writing and Literature at the University of Queensland and loves her role in ITAR Program there. She has been published in Griffith Review, Portside Review, Aniko Press, and Jacaranda Journal. She is the University of QLD’s 2021 Ford Memorial Poet of the year. Her TEDxUQ Talk regarding the power of genre encapsulates her writing passions. What happens when we tell someone else’s stories and use a genre that wields the power of truth? As a recipient of The Wheeler Centre’s Next Chapter program in 2020/21, she completed her debut novel The Great Undoing, released with Ultimo Press in February 2024. Sharlene lives in Meanjin/Brisbane with her family and beloved doggo Morty.
