Tales of escaped big cats have long haunted the colonial-settler imagination in parts of Australia. In Robbie Arnott’s latest novel, Dusk, the award-winning author refashions a century of stories into a tale of twins Iris and Floyd, who take it upon themselves to hunt down a puma in the Tasmanian highlands, a place of ‘old beauty haunted by new violence’.
