Tickets are now on sale for a special event with bestelling US writer Jodi Picoult on 24 October.

Jodi will speak with Jessie Stephens about her brilliant new book, By Any Other Name, a captivating novel about two women, centuries apart, fighting to be heard—one of whom may be the real author of Shakespeare’s plays.

This event starts at 7.30pm at the University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, corner of Laman and Auckland streets. It is being presented in partnership with Allen and Unwin and The University of Newcastle’s Schools of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Sciences.

Copies of Jodi’s books will be for sale at the event thanks to MacLean’s Booksellers and there will be a book signing after the conversation.

Jodi Picoult is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of 30 novels, including Mad HoneyWish You Were HereThe Book of Two WaysA Spark of LightSmall Great Things, Leaving Time, and My Sister’s Keeper, and, with daughter Samantha van Leer, two young adult novels, Between the Lines and Off the Page. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband. This is her first visit to Newcastle.

Jessie Stephens is a Sydney-based writer and podcaster. She is an executive editor at Mamamia, Australia’s largest independent women’s media company. She co-hosts Mamamia’s flagship podcast and winner of Australia’s Best Podcast Series, Mamamia Out Loud. Her debut book, Heartsick, was an international bestseller. Her second book is the novel Something Bad is Going to Happen.

Tickets are $35/$28 concession. There will be limited door sales and cash will not be accepted.

The venue is suitable for wheelchair users.
